Regional Director, Debbie Kusy, reported that the Regional Awards Show made a profit of about $2,600 – many thanks to the organizers of this event.
The 2005 Regional Awards Show will take place in York, PA, while the 2006 show will be in New Hampshire.
This year, the NAR will hold two qualifiers – one will be the MSG show, while the other will be a 225 show to be held in Plattsburg, NY. Anyone planning to go to the Plattsburg show is advised to make hotel reservations early, as this is prime leaf watching season as well as a holiday weekend!
As we all know, the 2005 Annual will be held at the Sheraton in Atlantic City. It was reported that there is now a walkway linking the Sheraton with the boardwalk. This walkway is lined with interesting shops.
Suggestions were made for hospitality nights. Some of the suggestions were for a carnival night as well as a clambake on the beach. Entertainment for Friday night was suggested in the form of a show incorporating parodies of Broadway tunes with lyrics pertinent to CFA. Clubs are being asked to group together to sponsor hospitality nights (e.g., New England clubs, etc.)
Sue Robbins showed examples of possible delegate bags. An overwhelming favorite was for a soft-sided cooler bag. It is hoped the IAMS will underwrite the cost of these bags.
Debbie suggested the theme from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” as our theme – Things Keep Getting Better. She also reported that spending on the annual will be limited to $60,000.
Our treasurer, Marilyn Knopp, has resigned her position due to due to a lifestyle change (she will not be doing cat shows in the future). We thank Marilyn for her hard work in the past and welcome our new treasurer, Tracy Trainen.
Donna Balestrieri has prepared a list of committees that need “chairs” for the annual – please contact Donna if you are interested in helping out.
Ray Pinder, Helene Schneider-Hester and Sue Robbins have volunteered to take on the fund-raising chores.
Our next meeting will be held at the NOVA show in Lebanon, PA, the weekend of August 28-29.
Respectfully submitted,
Geri Fellerman
Secretary
