Discussion held regarding Allentown fundraiser – Debbie reported that with all of the donated goods and services the show was expected to be a financial success.
2005 Annual – Sheraton Hotel, Atlantic City, NJ – Co-chairs of the Annual will be Elaine Magee, Donna Balestrieri and Claudia Hasay.
It is hoped that IAMS will donate the delegate bags. In addition to the Allentown fundraiser, a raffle is being planned with a first prize of a plasma TV, second prize of a DVD player and third prize of a digital camera. Tickets will be sold at $20 each.
Joan O’Hara and Geri Fellerman will be doing banquet seating and decorations. Clubs are being asked to sponsor hospitality suites for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Allene is working on obtaining ballpark figures from the hotel for the cost of such suites.
The 2004 Regional Banquet will be held in Matamoras with the show at the Best Western and the banquet in a nearby facility.
The 2005 banquet will be co-sponsored by Black Diamond and Ramapo Cat Clubs, with 2006 being sponsored by Seacoast at locations to be determined.
It was clarified that the minimum points required for a regional breed win is 200 and for a regional color win 100.
Discussion held re breed awards for premiership with such awards being acknowledged with a certificate and via a scroll on the screen at the awards banquet. Straw vote in favor of adopting this.
Two new club applications were announced – both for Canadian clubs, one in New Brunswick and one in Ontario.
Qualifiers – cats must now qualify in order to go to the International.
In addition to the Madison Square Garden show, the NAR will have a 225 show in New England. Debbie reported that approximately one out of every two cats shown in breed will qualify, as well as the Top 50 cats in Championship, top 50 Kittens and top 40 in Premiership, as scored at the show. Russ Haller and others in New England are looking for a show hall.
It was pointed out that last year’s MSG show lost approximately $55,000 – in fact, only two regional fundraisers made money, and it was a minimal amount.
In 2005 and 2006, the International show will be held in San Mateo near San Francisco Airport.
Discussion was held regarding resurrecting the Connauton/Dunston award – this award is given to someone who has made significant contributions to the region. Criteria to be investigated.
Respectfully submitted,
Geri Fellerman
Secretary
